Method
 

Prepare the base
  1. In a medium bowl, fold the softened cream cheese or ricotta until smooth. Add grated Parmesan if using.
Dice and drain tomatoes
  1. Finely dice tomatoes and gently press on a paper towel to remove excess juice.
Mix the tomato basil topping
  1. In a separate bowl, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, sliced basil, red onion, olive oil, balsamic (if using), salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Assemble the dip
  1. Spoon the creamy base into a shallow serving dish and smooth the top. Layer the tomato basil mixture over the cream base.
Chill briefly (optional)
  1. Chill the assembled bruschetta dip for 10–20 minutes to let flavors meld, or serve immediately for a fresher flavor.

Notes

Best served cold or at room temperature. For make-ahead hosting, prepare the creamy base and tomato topping separately the night before and combine just before serving.
